O Canto da Cidade

C Canto da Cidade (at the street corner) is a portrait series I created in Rio de Janeiro in the weeks leading up to Carnival. It is a love letter to the city’s beach culture, where the sea breeze carries the sound of baile funk, the scent of grilled cheese and cachaça, and the rhythm of endless football games. In this charged atmosphere, I portray young Brasilians at moments when life feels most alive. Anticipation, freedom, and self-expression shape their presence, revealing a fleeting time when joy and community seem to outweigh the contradictions of the city.
