"SER LIBRE" (BEING FREE / FREE BEING) are stories of my friends and acquaintances who question my own existence and identity, dissident narratives that escape from the binary and hegemonic society.
These stories teach us that freedom is a right that makes our lives possible. And freedom manifests itself through diversity—because it is freedom’s maximum degree of expression, its resonance. That is why it is crucial to include distinct narratives, stories and lives that have been unseen in a patriarchal society adverse to what is different. And that because life blossoms in the relationships when we connect with others -equal yet distinct- necessary by essence and necessary by cause.
Proclaiming our identities, expressing the multiplicity of ways we have of inhabiting our own bodies, allows us to see a world where others can feel accepted. To tell stories with our bodies is to think about the world we live in, the skin we are nested in, and to seek out the truth where our lives are our own, not borrowed, but free.
