Filling the void

Staying closed at home for months due to repeated lockdowns and having the opportunity to go out to photograph my completely deserted city made me think a lot. The sense of loss (of the people around, of friends as well as of my fellow citizens, the shops closed permanently), the absence of life, I perceived it similar to the sense of pain and absence of all my family and relatives who died in recent years . A profound sense of loneliness that I tried to fill by making collages starting from the photographs of Venice empty due to the Covid-19 I made combined with old family photos of grandparents and parents. All people who are no longer there but who I tried to revive and smile in a Venice that has become the perfect stage for their latest performance .
