About Barbara Zanon

Barbara Zanon (b. 1979, Venice) is an Italian photojournalist and portrait photographer whose work explores intimacy, identity, and the complexity of human experience. Working professionally since 2004, she combines a documentary approach with a deeply personal visual language. Since 2009, she has been a contributor to Getty Images.

Her work has been widely published internationally, including in The New York Times, TIME, The Guardian, El País, Financial Times, Vogue, CNN, and Der Spiegel, among others.

Zanon’s projects have received numerous international awards, including the LensCulture Critics’ Choice Award (2021), Aesthetica Art Prize (2024), Grand Prix Paris (PX3), and International Photography Awards (IPA). Her work has also been recognized by POYi – Pictures of the Year International and Center Santa Fe.

She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the United States, including New York, London, Paris, Barcelona, Budapest, Venice and Kuala Lumpur.

In recent years, her research has also focused on the relationship between photojournalism, ethics and artificial intelligence, expanding her practice into the critical exploration of images in the age of AI.
