About Tuca Vieira

PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo and the University of Lyon. Professional photographer since 1991, he has worked for the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, among other media outlets. He is the author of the Photographic Atlas of the City of São Paulo (2018) and the well-known photograph Paraísópolis (2004). He has received several awards and participated in exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. He is a contributor to Piaui, Zum, and Monocle magazines, among other publications, in Brazil and abroad. He is a collaborating professor at the City School of Architecture and Urbanism). He is the author of the theoretical book Leap in the Dark – readings of contemporary space and Photographic Atlas (Jabuti and APCA Awards). He currently works on projects related to landscape, architecture, and urbanism, and is developing the series Hypercities), about the great metropolises of the 21st century and artist in residence at the Cité des Arts in Paris, at the invitation of the French Academy of Fine Arts.
