Fairytales in the midst of thorns is a wet plate collodion photography series capturing the dark side of childhood playtime, dealing with the chaos around the children caused by adulthood tales of separations, serious illness and loss. Children`s activities have become the battleground for many parents, who continue punishing each other rather than supporting their children. Tree houses and hidden garden sheds have become their retreats. The work is seeped in melancholia and romantics of the lost age. Wet plate collodion process fits perfectly in this series. Born out the highly toxic chemicals in this flawed adult world, each portrait deeply stares at the fear of their own time lost. The series provokes uneasiness in the viewer eyes but the future is still unwritten and will be looking for an happy ever after.
