August is an ongoing book editing project that collects and rearranges my early photography from 2015 to 2020.
August was the starting point of my photography. A record of youth. The camera became my way of exploring the world—full of curiosity and hope. These photos are daily records created just by "playing around" with friends back then. Fearless, free, poetic, and even a bit absurd. As time went on, I kept my habit of taking photos, but I naturally realized that the focus of my photography was slowly changing.
August returns with every passing year, but I can never find my way back to that August. Just as August is the peak of summer, it carries a raw heat, uncontrolled hormones, curiosity about the future, and a critical state where everything is just about to change.
