For years, the village headman has noted in this diary the lovers who eloped. While many entries were brief and factual, some revealed emotional reactions and personal judgment. In a note dated March 3, 2010, he wrote:
"Vahyettin Korkmaz’s daughter has been eloped. But by whom? She was taken by Kasım, the son of Alaattin Yılmaz from Beytamin village. I hate. I condemn this."
This brief but charged entry reminds us that not every elopement was seen as a romantic escape. For some, it was a source of shame, conflict, or moral outrage — a disruption of the social fabric.
