I have always been drawn to photographing amusement parks and fairs. I love the spectacle and the chaos of it all, but I also like finding the quiet moments when people disconnect. Almost as if it’s all too much and the automatic shut down kicks in. People in my images are either lost in thought, exhausted, or simply detached from what is going on around them. They have become “disenchanted” with the “enchanted” world around them.
This series of quieter moments were taken over the course of several years in different locations. I chose to show them in black and white to add to the disconnection from all the colors and noise.
