In exploring and creating an archive of images of the feminine body from news, photography, art, tv, movies, I discovered a few things. I was looking for 2 thngs for my archive. 1, feminine representations which fit the binart and stereotypes I was brought up with, and 2, feminine representations I see now as an adult with an open mind. Inadvertantly I realised these imaged (all from male dominated fields) seemed very sexually suggestive. I started to ask if the images were inherently sexual or if I have been conditioned to see these images this way? Was the person who created these images a man? Did the women depicted have a say in how they were represented? I started by appropriating poses and shifting small details to see what would change but was unable to achieve the uncanny. I began focussing on removing context and cutting right in to hands and feet to explore the questions i was asking.
