WATER ABSTRACTION
- Relief from Covid
Lockdown, and I really can't continue work on my current project – no travel allowed.
Frustrated, angry, cooped up in my office obsessively working on.... Whatever.
It's been pouring rain for hours, days, and the sun breaks through. I went out to the stream in back of my house to shoot and cleanse my mind – just do something other than obsess. The water is roaring, in full flood. Light pierces down through cracks in the high canopy picking out bits of the torrent for me to work with.
It's the energy that I respond to in these photos. There is a confusion and power in the first images I took that resonated with me, with my helplessness in the face of this pandemic storm raging through the country. There were two more storms this summer. As I learned to control the elements at play there is more mystery and depth. And as time moves on we've become more accustomed to the danger still shadowing us, lurking, waiting to sweep us away.
