About Jelle Krings

Jelle Krings is an independent photographer, reporter and filmmaker. He is interested in humanizing large elusive themes such as war, migration, climate change, and geopolitical issues, through long-term, multimedia projects with a focus on still photography.

Jelle regularly contributes to- and works on assignment for international new organizations, including for The Guardian, National Geographic, CNN, Newsweek, Stern and De Volkskrant. His work has been recognized with nominations and awards by Pictures of the Year international, the Online Journalism Award, Visa d’or Award for the Best Digital News Story, and the Dutch Zilveren Camera.

Jelle studied International Law at the University of Maastricht and worked as a lawyer for 6 years before dedicating himself fully to photojournalism in 2017. His long-term projects have focussed on the unequal effects of climate change in Africa, migration to the EU, and the war in Ukraine - which resulted in his first book "Iron People". He is currently working on a project about the effects of PTSD on Ukrainian society.
