Frank Lopez is an experimental photographic artist based in North Texas. He is the winner of the 2025 Review Santa Fe Jay and Susie Tyrrell Excellence in Works by Hand Award, and the 2020 Center Santa Fe Callanan Award for Photographic Teaching Excellence. Furthermore, he won the Dallas Observer MasterMind award in 2011, recognizing artists making a significant cultural contribution to the city of Dallas. In March of 2025, Frank was interviewed for the Lenscratch Photography Educator’s series, a feature detailing his philosophy on education and his current body of work.
Frank has instructed at the university, secondary, and professional workshop level since 1990, and is a frequent lecturer based on experimental and cultural imagery. In his 20th year at Greenhill School, he leads an international award-winning issues-based photography program and is a Faculty Leader, the highest award for a faculty member. His work has been widely published and exhibited in physical and online forums, and his work is held in several corporate and individual collections. Frank is represented by the Maine Museum of Photographic Art and is curating an exhibition in December of 2026 at the Dallas Bath House Cultural Center.
