About Dubai Photo Exhibition

Held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, and organised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA), Dubai Photo Exhibition will launch in March 2016.

This international photography showcase will foster dialogue on photography from different countries around the world, transcending boundaries between form, technique, and geographic region. The exhibition will explore a global perspective on photography, casting a light on the influences that define this art form, in one location, in a single moment. Through a global presentation of museum-quality 20th and 21st century photographic works, in an unprecedented photography platform of this scale, 18 curators will bring together works from 23 countries, in a seamless visual experience that celebrates the harmony and diversity within global photography.

Dubai Photo Exhibition has been created by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) to promote Dubai as a hub for local and international photography and to nurture photographic excellence through educational programs, events and workshops. Supported by the World Photography Organisation (WPO), Dubai Photo Exhibition will provide a new cultural moment on the world's art calendar, while cultivating appreciation and fostering dialogue in the region.

Dubai Photo Exhibition will take place from 16 – 19 March 2016 in Dubai, and will be held in a 'temporary museum' purpose-built in the Dubai Design District (d3). The showcase will combine the work of many of the most celebrated working photographers today, alongside the grand masters of the 20th century, cementing Dubai's vision of becoming a highly creative, connected and cultural city, in line with Dubai 2021 plan and Expo 2020.
