About Claudio Edinger

Claudio Edinger (b. 1952) has a BA in Economics and has been a photographer since 1975. He is the author of 16 photo books, one novel and one history book on photography.

Edinger received the Leica Medal of Excellence twice for his books Chelsea Hotel and Venice Beach; the Hasselblad Award for his work on LA. He was also granted the Higashikawa Award (Japan), the Ernst Haas Award and Special LIFE Magazine Award (for the work inside an Insane Asylum in Brazil). He has received also the JP Morgan Award (Brazil — for photos of São Paulo), Pictures of the Year (US — for photos published at Newsweek), Marc Ferrez Award (Brazil — for photos of the South of Brazil), and he has received twice the Porto Seguro Award in Brazil (for photos of São Paulo and of the Hinterland of Bahia, Brazil).

His photographs are in the collection of LACMA, Maison Europeenne de La Photographie (France), Museum of Arte of São Paulo, Museum of Modern Art (São Paulo), among many others.
