Traces is an artistic project performed with young refugees from the Fedasil center in Belgium who welcomes unnacompagnied foreigns kids.
Through drawing, these kids have questionned themes like identity, facing yourself and the look of others. The law says that you cannot broadcast a face for a public purpose without parental consent. So how do you make a project about identity and self-portrait ?
Self drawing based on mirror reflection? An object who's made the travel with them can also be a part of their identity, their story.
The Fedasil center only welcomes these kids for a month to evaluate which specifics conditions they need before sending them to one the 47 centers in Belgium.
This project tried to give a different perspective of the refugee reality and to leave a permanent trace of these kids who represent much more of them. The result of the project was an exhibition in Brussels in 2017
