These people , by permitting themselves to be photographed, allowed me to step outside myself during my treatment. To photograph- to prove to myself and others that I am alive in spite of exhaustion, diplopia, imbalance... to look for the normal, the mundane, within an abnormal setting. I learnt a great deal from sitting and facing each of them, holding their gaze which I sometimes saw only dimly. This series of portraits emerged, with no atrezzo other than the chair and only the light coming in through my window. I thank each and all of these persons, dear to me, for their generosity.
