This year, 2017, The Lake District National Park learns whether it has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status.
With 45,000 people living and working within the park, will this extra level of protection, international status and administration be a blessing, a curse or make no difference at all?
The suspicious is that life will continue on, unaffected, for those who call the Park home, though there may be an upsurge initially in tourist numbers, perhaps topping the most recent high of 16 millions annual visitors.
