The first of the two works Sulle Rive dell'Adriatico (2017) explores precisely the sensations that emerge from this place where space is mutable but everything appears still and timeless, thus becoming an autonomous space [...] with a surreal character'. The black and white shots, strongly evocative, enhance in photography that feeling of detachment from the world, the emotions and reflections that emerge when dealing with the sea. Human subjects alternate with landscapes in what is structured as an exploration of the relationship between the photographer and the places he lives. The result is to accompany us in a dream, almost giving us the sensation of walking barefoot on wet sand.
The second project Fisicittà (2019) is Diego Costantini's next step in his research analysis. Contrasting immediately with the first work, the photographs abandon black and white and focus on the architecture of the territory, putting human subjects in the background; if the first step was to analyse how this place influences man, now the gaze shifts to the signs that man leaves on space. The shots are no longer instinctive, they become studied and reasoned. Seeking a balance in colours, framing and subjects, the photographer rediscovers that timeless and static dimension in the continuous motion of the waves that also characterised his first work.
