This project was birthed out of the quest to recapture an image I had taken in 2017. While crossing the Berger Pedestrian Bridge one sunny evening in August 2017, I spotted a gigantic truck, which had just roared into Lagos. On it laid a man on a bed full of oranges, looking serene and unbothered despite the cacophony of noise surrounding him. Unable to resist the story etched in my mind, I captured the image with my phone!
In 2019, I began to experiment on forms following the style of abstract painting which pays attention to colors shapes and textures.
Tropics and miles is an exploration of forms, patterns and colors focusing on graphic and beautiful nature of logistics and distribution journey from an aerial view.
It delves further into the motif arts on the trucks and buses which carries a common message often extracted from a variety of local contexts of ideas, practices and make visual reference to religion.
