The Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project. Every year the team of the DTRP takes in and rehabilitates hundreds of endangered sea turtles found stranded along the coast of the UAE. The turtles get cured in facilities underground at the iconic Burj al Arab Hotel in Dubai . As soon as they are fit they are then released to open sea under the shadow of their 7 star hospital.

A shark researcher approaches a huge female whalesharks to tag her and take photo identification. The spot pattern of whalesharks is unique allowing to catalogue all sightings and match back individuals sighted in different places or over the years.

A satellite tag applied by the dorsal fin of a whaleshark. Satellite tagging is a key part of reaserch to understand movement of whale sharks and eventually protect key aggregation areas.

Dead sharks line up in the Deira fish market in Dubai brought in by fisherman from neighbouring Oman and Yemen to get then sold and the fins traded to the Asian markets. The shark fin trade decimated sharks population globally depleting it by more than 90%.
